William John Stowell Jr., 89, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Henrietta Stowell; father of Linda Stowell Lopez and husband Earl J. Lopez, Jr. and the late Mary Stowell; son of the late William J. Sr. and Inez Virginia Schneider Stowell; and brother of Dorothy Hall.

He is also survived by his three godchildren, Emile Gardette Jr., Paulette D’Aunoy and Rudolph Hall Jr.; three nephews, Paul Schneider, and Michael and David Gardette and also his niece, Janet Stram. Special thanks to his second family, all the employees at Shogun Restaurant in Metairie, especially Charlie, Miki, Jennifer, Lee and Peggy; his church family of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Pearl River; his loving caregivers, Joy, Sherri and Lauren and his faithful friend Paul.

He was a native and former longtime resident of New Orleans and a resident of Pearl River since 2006. Stowell was a retired electrician for the IBEW Local Union 130 for 68 years where he worked for Lambert Electrical Co. He was a 1940 graduate of St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans, where he was the quarterback for the football team. He attended Tulane University and Delgado Community College of New Orleans.

Relatives, friends of the family, members of the Local 130 and employees of the St. Bernard Parish Clerk of Courts Office are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Dr., Pearl River. Visitation will be held at church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Roch Cemetery No.2 in New Orleans.
