Mark your calendar for the 13th annual Great Wake Up Race Sept. 25 at 8 a.m. (registration begins at 7 a.m.) at the Trailhead Pavilion in Abita Springs. This annual fundraiser helps the Thomas L. Young Auxiliary of Southeast Louisiana Hospital “wake up the public” to the needs and challenges of people with mental illness.

The auxiliary is a non-profit volunteer organization that works to help improve the quality of life for those with mental illness. The main fundraising objective of this year’s race is to create, restore and maintain sports and recreational facilities on the hospital grounds to encourage physical health and outdoor activity.

“Each sponsorship, registration fee and donation dollar will help us to meet our goal of providing wonderful recreational facilities and sports equipment for the Southeast clients to enjoy,” Clint Romig, auxiliary president, said.

Pre-registration fees including a T-shirt are $12 for adults and $10 for youth (Ages 17 and under). Pre-registration fees without a t-shirt are $8 for adults and $6 for youth (Ages 17 and under). To register, visit www.selh.org.

Sponsorships starting at $250 are still needed in support of this event. For registration or sponsorship information, contact Alison Dillmann, Auxiliary liaison, at 626-6455 or alison.dillmann@la.gov.
