Deputies search for attempted robbery suspect

The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who allegedly tried to rob the Whitney Bank on La. Highway 59 north of Mandeville Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect entered the bank around 3 p.m., carrying an attaché case. He went up to a teller and handed the teller a note demanding money.

However, before the teller could comply, the suspect ran out of the bank and took off in a compact car.

The suspect is described as a white male, mid to late forties, about 5 foot 8 inches tall with a heavy build.

He was last seen wearing a light blue baseball cap, a red polo shirt and khaki shorts.
