William “Bill” Antoine Berckes, 77, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010.

He was the beloved husband of the late Edrene Downs Berckes; father of Alicia Berckes Coates (Darren) and Christian Berckes and brother of Robert Berckes.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, Archer and Porter Coates and Isaac Berckes.

He was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell. He retired from St. Tammany Parish Roads and Bridges Department where he was a draftsman and worked at J. V. Burkes for many years. He was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church of Slidell.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services at noon Friday at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger St., Slidell. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until funeral time. Interment is in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations to First United Methodist Preschool, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
