W.L. “Johnny” Epton passed away Friday, March 5, 2010. He was born June 5, 1927, in Nashville, Ark., to the late J. Cecil and Alty Humphrey Epton.

The beloved husband of Aurora Cox Epton, he is survived by three sons, Michael (Sally), Terrence (Sandra) and Scott Epton; his sister, Vivian Libby of New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Eric and Abigail Epton; five step-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. He is the brother-in-law of Pat Cox and Doris Cox Simon and was preceded in death by his brother, Chares Epton.

A resident of Big Branch for over 30 years, Johnny was a member of the Big Branch Civic Club. He worked for American Standard for nearly 40 years and belonged to the Local No. 220 International Potters and Allied Workers Union. Wounded during World War II, he served his country as a merchant mariner, and held a membership in the Seafarers’ International Union.
