Tom Edwards passed, 64, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010.

He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Melanie Lynne Plauche Edwards; loving father of Dr. Kristie Edwards Cato and her husband Randy; grandfather of Megan Elizabeth Cato; and brother to Jan Minihan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Avery Grice Edwards Goins; his father, Willie Thomas Edwards Jr.; and a sister, Carolyn Edwards.

He was a native of Shreveport and a resident of the Covington/Mandeville area for the past 41 years. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam Era. He was a past president of the Covington Rotary Club, former member of the Covington Jaycees, and was a member of the Vestry and Senior Warden at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Mandeville.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at 7 p.m. today at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Tom be made to Hospice of St. Tammany, 1201 Tyler St., Covington.
