Eli J. Stevens, 85, of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell. He was the beloved husband of the late Kitty Stevens; companion of Bernice Crowell; father of Caroline Mitchell and husband Ralph Mitchell; son of the late Anthony and Betsy Stevens and brother of Gilbert Stevens. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Julie Mitchell, Tuff Mitchell, Samantha Mitchell, Steve Stevens, Randy Stevens and Rusty Stevens and numerous great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was a native of New York and a longtime resident of Slidell. Mr. Stevens served his community as a well-respected paving contractor.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday.

Interment will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chicago. Arrangements are by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell.
