Volleyball fans have a golden opportunity to see their team in action tomorrow with the Northshore Jam of Champs being held at NHS with action getting underway at 3:30 p.m.

The jamboree features three pools with 14 teams and 11 local.

Pool “A” and “B” has four squads each. Northshore, Lakeshore, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Scholastica Academy are in Pool “A.”

Pool “B” teams include Northlake Christian School, Fontainebleau along with Mandeville and Slidell.

Northlake Christian is a two-time defending state champion, while Fontainebleau was a Division I state runner-up last year.

In Pool “C” Covington, Pearl River, Pope John Paul II, Salmen, Hammond and Ponchatoula will be participating.

The matches will be one game to 25.

NHS has hosted this event for more than 10 years. Last year, it was moved to Mandeville due to gym renovations at Northshore, which also included roof repairs, the floor was redone and a new net system was installed.

Lady Panthers’ coach Sandy Blancher said the jamboree started with four teams, grew to eight and is now at 14. She said she’s looking forward to the event.

“It’s like a coming out party,” Blancher said. “It’s great volleyball, great camaraderie and sportsmanship. It takes an incredible effort to put this on from our coaching staff, players and parents.

If you are planning on attending, admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
