The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office reported that a 23-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed only Louisiana Highway 59 just north of Louisiana Highway 36 Thursday morning.

Not much is known about the victim, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities are still investigating where the man lived, and his name was not released until his family is notified.

According to the police reports, the man was traveling south on La. 59 when his motorcycle went off the road to the right. Deputies said the bike continued to along the roadside ditch for about a quarter mile before hitting a group of trees near Clearcreek Drive.

Investigators say the accident happened sometime around 7 a.m. They believe the man was driving at a high rate of speed when he went off the road.
