Parades roll Saturday, Sunday

Feb. 7, NoonKrewe of Bilge

The Krewe of Bilge will celebrate its 30th anniversary when it floats through the canals of Eden Isles Saturday.

Founded in 1978, the krewe has a membership of 200 couples, and last year’s parade featured 35 boats. This year’s theme, “Making History,” plays on the group’s anniversary.

Feb. 8, 1 p.m. Krewe of Perseus

The Krewe of Perseus will roll Sunday with the theme, “Legends of Valor.” Coveted throws will include chains with the Perseus medallion, logo cups and footballs. Krewe members will also throw miniature Perseus bobbleheads, and the parade will include 14 floats as well as nine marching bands.

The krewe was chartered in 1970, thus making it the oldest Carnival organization in Slidell. Membership is limited to no more than 250 members.

Feb. 8, 1:15 p.m.

Pearl River

Lions Club

The Pearl River Lions Club will sponsor its annual parade Sunday with the theme, “The Games People Play.”

The parade will follow its traditional two-mile route, starting at Pearl River High School and ending at the Town Hall. Floats, trucks and trailers, horse groups and even golf carts are expected to participate.
