Accolades are piling up for Sen. Jack Donahue, a Republican from Covington.

In January, Donahue, president and CEO of Mandeville-based Donahue/Favret Contractors Inc., was named Associated Builders & Contractors “Person of the Year” for 2007.

In April, he was also inducted into the Civil and Environmental Engineering Hall of Distinction at Louisiana State University.

And in July, Donahue was honored as “Man of the Year” by the St. Tammany Republican Parish Executive Committee.

Days later, Donahue received the “Outstanding Family Advocate Award” for his pro-family voting record from the Louisiana Family Forum at an awards ceremony in Baton Rouge.

On Aug. 8, Donahue received a “Business Champion Award” for his leadership efforts in advancing pro-business legislation at the 2008 annual Chamber Southwest Louisiana Legis-Gator Luncheon in Lake Charles.

Donahue, a Northshore resident for 35 years, was elected senator for District 11 in October 2007 under a platform of education improvement and boosting business retention and jobs.

“The purpose of my platform is to keep our kids working here in Louisiana,” said Donahue.

Donahue has been married to wife Maura for 20 years and is father of six children and grandfather of 16.
