Covington man arrested for burglary, looting in Old Landing in Covington Covington police have arrested David Turner, 20, 70381 L St., Covington, and charged him with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and looting. His arrest came after family members turned items over to police that they believed were stolen, including a computer case and a briefcase. Turner, who was out of jail on parole for burglary and theft, was living with the family members in Old Landing at the time of his arrest. Police tracked the items to a looting and burglary during and after Hurricane Gustav. When arrested, Turner also had a laptop computer that had been reported stolen. Capt. Jack West, spokesman for the Covington Police Department, said Turner admitted committing the crimes to police. Covington Police are asking anyone in the Old Landing area who has had items stolen from their vehicle or residence in the past three weeks to contact Officer Andy Northcutt at 892-8500. |
