A recent crackdown on illegal advertising signs posted on medians and right of ways netted more than 70 warnings but no citations, parish officials said.

It was not necessary to issue any citations because all the code violations were “corrected in a timely manner,” parish planning director Sidney Fontenot said.

“The response of the business community was quick and cooperative,” he said.

The warning blitz, first targeted among businesses along Louisiana Highway 21 between Madisonville and Covington, Airport Road north of Slidell and Louisiana Highway 59 between Mandeville and Abita Springs, will continue during the next month.

Sweeps of East Gause Boulevard, U.S. Highway 190 between Slidell and Lacombe, as well as Louisiana Highway 36 between Abita Springs and Covington are under way. The remainder of U.S. 190 will continue to be inspected through July.

“I want to thank the business owners for their cooperation in returning to business as usual,” said Parish President Kevin Davis. “The cooperation we received in transitioning back to enforcing our sign regulations is outstanding.”

" Enforced!! What a joke. Ther's not a car dealer on Highway 190 that's in compliance. How about illegal parkiing on Highway right of way. That's another joke Mr. Davis. "
