In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, parish spokesperson, Suzanne Parson Stymiest said that Oiler’s letter of resignation had been withdrawn.
Last Thursday, Oiler handed Davis his letter of resignation, citing personal reasons for his action. Davis said he had “mixed feelings” about Oiler’s resignation, citing that Oiiler spearheaded many of the parish’s capital infrastructure projects and emergency planning.

Oiler works directly under Davis supervising all the parish departments except for the parish’s legal arm. His most recent accompllishment was to secutre $6 million in grant money to stary a new urban busing service for parish residents.
Now that he has returned to work, it looks like the buses will roll in the parish.
“I am very grateful to President Davis for allowing me to return to the parish,” Oiler said in a prepared statement. “I was able to resolve the personal issues that prompted my resignation letter, and feel that I will be able to fulfill the responsibilities of CAO.”
Parson-Symiest said that Oiler resumed his duties on Wednesday.
