School Board appoints 10 new assistant principals

The St. Tammany Parish School Board recently appointed five parishwide assistant principals and assistant principals for five schools.

Newly appointed assistant principals and their schools are:

• Diane M. Combs is the new assistant principal for Abney Elementary School. She holds a Master of Education degree plus 30 hours and was Teacher of the Year at Whispering Forest Elementary School in 1998-1999. She has extensive professional development in such areas as positive behavior, nonviolent crisis intervention, technology and arts education.

• Daphne Yolanda Lowe is the new assistant principal at Chahta-Ima Elementary and Bayou Lacombe Middle schools. She holds a specialist degree in educational leadership and a Master of Education degree. From Mississippi, Lowe has served as an adjunct developmental reading instructor at Delgado Community College in Covington.

• Lelia Parker is the new assistant principal at Folsom Elementary School and holds a Master of Education degree plus 30 hours in elementary administration and has been teaching since 1979. She was named Bogalusa City School System Teacher of the Year in 1985 and has served as teacher, principal and assistant principal as well as a Title I facilitator.

• Sarah Badon Revere is the new assistant principal at Folsom Junior High School. She holds a Master of Education degree in administration and has been teaching since 1998. She has served as a LATAAP mentor and assessor and has served on various committees, including safety, discipline/positive behavior support, school improvement plan, technology, math curriculum and language arts.

The five new parishwide assistant principals are Robert DeRoche, Linda K. Fussell, Chantelle O’Meallie, Edward Strohmeyer and Kelley P. Welch.

DeRoche has a master’s plus 30 in education and a secondary curriculum generalist degree. He began teaching in 1992 and was a finalist in 2005-2006 for the Superintendent’s Award for Outstanding Character and Citizenship.

Fussell has a master of education in school leadership and has been teaching since 1987. He currently is professional development coordinator at Covington High and was named Teacher of the Year at Covington 2004-2005. He has also received numerous grants.

O’Meallie holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a master’s plus 30. He holds National Board Certification in early childhood generalist and was named St. Tammany parish Elementary Teacher of the Year as well as a Louisiana State PTA Education of Distinction.

Strohmeyer holds a Master of Education degree in elementary principalship and has been teaching since 1995. Currently, he is resource helping teacher at Abita Springs Middle School.

Welch holds a Master of Education degree in school administration and began teaching in 1999. She has served as an early intervention facilitator and was named Brock Elementary Teacher of the Year 2004-2005.
