Fontainebleau tops St. Pauls in season finale, 7-3

Fontainebleau senior Chris Prudhomme scattered eight hits and pitched a complete game Tuesday to carry the Bulldogs to a 7-3 season-ending victory over the St. Paul's Wolves at Heap Field. Colton Adkins went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in for the Bulldogs, who collected 12 hits.

FHS (17-10) finished out the district season with a 6-8 record under first-year head coach Brian Babin.

St. Paul's (15-13) also finished district play at 6-8.

FHS took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Adkins singled in Lyle Lapeyrouse, who walked, and Daniel Brockhoeft got on after being hit by a pitch. St. Paul's responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

SPS' Patrick Donnelly singled and stole second. Following a strike out, Brandon Boudreaux singled to move Donnelly to third. Craig Gautreaux reached on a throwing error. Christian Spansel, 2-for-3, was also safe on an error, allowing Donnelly and Boudreaux to score to tie the game at 2-2. Patrick Huval singled to drive in Gautreaux to give the Wolves a short-lived 3-2 lead.

Fontainebleau regained the lead with two runs in the second. Brockhoeft delivered a two-out double to score Blake Latiolais, who got on with a single, and Adam Becnel, who had reached on an error.

The Bulldogs scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to record the victory.

Brockhoeft singled to open the fifth and stole second. He moved to third on a ground out and scored on Adkins' single.

With one out in the sixth, Becnel reached on an error. He stole second and advanced to third on a Lapeyrouse single. Lapeyrouse stole second. Later in the inning, Becnel stole home, while Lapeyrouse stole third. The next batter was retired on strikes to end the inning.

The Bulldogs plated their final run in the seventh. With two outs Derek Acosta singled and stole second. Latiolais singled in Acosta to close out the scoring.

Acosta, Adkins, Brockhoeft, Lapeyrouse and Latiolais all had two hits for the Bulldogs. Austin Fontenot and Cody Hornsby had one hit each. St. Paul's starter Trey Campeaux went four and one-third innings and was tagged with the loss. Andrew Richardson finished in relief of Campeaux.
