Hannan Golf Classic

Archbishop Hannan High School will host it’s annual Golf Classic April 25 at Abita Springs Country Club. Registration begins at 10 a.m., hamburgers from 10:45 to 12:15 p.m. and a jambalaya dinner will be served after the tournament during awards ceremony. A parade of prizes will be drawn after the awards ceremony.

OLOL race

Our Lady of Lourdes will be the site for the Henry J. Calamari Memorial two-mile Road Race on April 26 prior to the school’s fair.

The pre-registration fee is $10 and includes a fair T-shirt, which is limited in quantity. The fee goes up to $20 if you sign up on race day and does not include the shirt.

Race day registration will be from 7-7:45 a.m. and the event begins at 8 a.m.

Forms and checks may be sent to 345 Westchester Place, Slidell, 70458 or you can bring them in person to the cafeteria from 7:30-8 a.m. each weekday morning.

Awards will be given out for first place male and female along with the top two from each of the various age groups. There will also be a third-place award for those under 13.

The age groups go from 7-under all the way through 60-over for males and 50-over for females.

Dove Golf Classic

St. Scholastica Academy will host its Dove Golf Classic Tournament on May 5 at Beau Chene Country Club. All proceeds benefit the SSA Athletic Department. There will be Hole-In-One and Putting Contests, Four-Man Scramble and Shotgun Start. If golf isn’t your game, you can enjoy food and drinks for $25 per person.

Registration begins at 10 a.m.

NHS golf tourney

The Northshore High School Band Boosters will be holding their annual golf tournament on April 19 at Pinewood Country Club.

A putting contest begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon, followed by a full shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The cost is $75, which includes the round of golf, the cart, lunch and refreshments throughout the afternoon along with a door prize and a diddy bag. Corporate sponsorships are welcome and hole sponsorships are also available at $50 each.

Band students receive a portion of the golfer’s entry fee and the sponsor’s donation to help offset the cost of their band trip. For more information, please contact Dave Hildebrandt at 643-7120.

Entry and sponsorship forms are also available on the band’s Web site at www.northshoreband.com. The entry deadline is April 11.

Anglers Tournament

The Monday Evening Anglers is hosting a tournament on April 14 at the Bayou Bonfouca Marina with blast off scheduled for 5 p.m. with registration beginning 4:15.

The dues are $20 for the year. The tournament fee is $20 and $5 for the big fish.

MHS scrimmage

Mandeville High School Skippers Football team’s Blue-White spring scrimmage will be played Friday, May 9 at 6 p.m. Support your local prep football and join the excitement at Skipper Stadium located at 1 Skipper Drive. Tickets are $3 at the gate and concessions will be available.

Mother’s Day Softball Slugfest in Picayune

Mother’s Day Softball Slugfest is scheduled for May 10-11 at

Ladies golf tournament is being played in May

The Department of Louisiana American Legion Auxiliary is hosting their first Ladies Golf Tournament on May 19 and 20.

The event will be held at Tamahka Trails Golf Club located at the Paragon Casino in Marksville.

Covington Food Bank is holding a golf tournament

The annual Covington Food Bank Golf Tournament will be held at Beau Chene Country Club on May 19. The Tournament will be a 4-player Amateur Scramble. The shotgun start will be at noon. Lunch and a buffet dinner will be served to all players by Beau Chene Country Club staff. Louisiana Shootout is being held May 30-June 1

The Louisiana Shootout is scheduled for May 30-June 1 and has openings for teams of boys and girls age divisions 9U-17U.

It will take place at the Pelican Park Multi Court Complex and the cost is $260 per squad. Each group is guaranteed three games with championship contests for each division.

Youth Fishing Event to be held June 7

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service along with The Friends of Louisiana Wildlife

Refuges will sponsor the 15th Annual Youth Fishing Event at Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge on June 7 from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The event will be held at the Pearl River Turnaround at Exit 11 off of I-59.

This cost is $12 and allows children ages 4-12 to experience the natural world of the refuge and the thrill of fishing. An adult must accompany all children. Registration forms will be accepted from March 31 and through May 2 and is limited to 175 kids on a first-come, first-served basis. You may obtain registration forms in person at the Southeast Louisiana Refuge Complex offices at 61389 Highway 434 in Lacombe or by calling 882-2000. No phone reservations will be accepted. Completed forms with payment and a disposable copy of each child’s birth certificate may be dropped off or mailed to the Lacombe office through May 2 from 7:30 am-4:00 pm Monday-Friday.

Registration fees may be paid by cash, check or money order payable to Friends of Louisiana Wildlife Refuges.

Participants will receive a T-shirt, rod-and-reel, tackle, bait, and lunch. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.

Basketball center spring registration is going on

The Northshore Basketball Training Center is accepting spring registration for boys’ and girls’ evening classes for ages 6-15.

Training classes are twice a week after school with many times available for convenience. Center Director and Archbishop Hannan girls basketball coach Charles Tracey will conduct training.

Northshore Tennis Association offers youth program

The Northshore Tennis Association has an ongoing Junior and Mr. Pee Wee development tennis program for boys and girls ages 4-18. It starts with private or semi-private sessions to familiarize youngsters with tennis terms, stroke production and procedures. The year-round programs are held on the Kehoe-France Northshore School and public courts in Covington and Mandeville.

Competitions are held for boys and girls 10 and under that have not been ranked on a state level and are new to tournament competition.

Yearly registration is $25 and $5 and an unopened can of tennis balls is required per tournament or $8 total per tournament.
