The Class 2A schools are competing this Tuesday, and the others will go next week.
The girls, who finished 7-3 this season, are led by senior Katie Brandner, who posted a 9-0 record. She did not lose a set, going 18-0, and has dropped just 12 games all season.

“I’m excited about regionals,” Brandner said. “I just went out there and had fun.”
Brandner, who made it to the Sweet 16 last year, has been playing tennis since she was 5 and comes from a family that has excelled in the sport. Her brothers Josh and Justin, along with her mom, Pam, all received Most Valuable Player awards.
PJP coach Julie Champagne, who has been coaching PJP tennis for 13 years, said Brandner’s season has possibly exceeded the senior’s expectations.
“She’s done a marvelous job this year,” Champagne said. “Going undefeated was higher than what she probably expected.”
The next step after regional round is state. The number of participants in the regionals determines the number of people who go the state tournament.
Champagne said her team is looking forward to Tuesday.
“We’re excited. We’re hoping Katie will get a good draw and perform well because this is her year,” she said. “Last year, we won six-first round matches. We’re hoping to be able to compete as well.”
The other competitors on the girls’ side include senior Jeannette Gomez, (5-5), juniors Carmen Wingerter (5-4), Sam Tatro (5-5) and Kasey Furphy (4-5). The sophomores are Sophie Krefft (7-2) and Katy Lloyd (7-3), while Ericka Calamari (6-4) is the team’s only freshman.
The boys’ squad, which finished 5-5, is a group without much experience despite having just one freshman and sophomore on the squad. Every member of the boys’ team had a 4-6 mark except juniors Daniel Bonnett and Patrick Newcomb, who each posted 5-4 records. The seniors are Matthew Malus and Ryan Murphy, while Jonathan Maurin and Michael Eddington are the other two juniors.
The one sophomore is Kevin Oakes, and Nikhil Singh is the freshman.
