Pope John Paul II sweeps at Gemstone

Girls win league for second year in a row

Pope John Paul II’s girls and boys won this week’s Northlake Golf League held Tuesday at Gemstone near Franklinton.

The girls are the league champs for the second consecutive year. On Tuesday, the Lady Jaguars shot a 116 for the nine holes, led by Emily Borne, who got a 57. Andria Dennis was second with a 59, and Kayla Mason (66) finished third.

Pope John Paul’s boys combined for a 369 total score in the 18 holes. Franklinton (393) finished second, while Pine (395) was third followed by Northlake Christian School (405) and Pearl River (476).

Pine’s Drew Pierce fired an 81 to lead the boys, while PJP’s Jon Price (82) was second and NCS’ Eric Chun (83) took third.
