Two people were injured and taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after one car lost control on a curve and slammed into a brand new Dodge pickup truck in front of the Fleet Travel Center at the intersection of Voters Road and Old Spanish Trail.
According to Slidell Police Officer Brad Hoopes, a woman driving a 2006 Nissan Murano sports-utility vehicle was headed west on Voters Road. She apparently lost control of the car as she entered the curve in the road. The Nissan went across Voters Road into opposing traffic where it hit a 2008 Dodge Ram SXT pickup truck.

Hoopes said the Nissan driver was probably driving too fast when it entered the curve.
"Speed is definitely a factor in the crash," Hoopes said.
The officer said that when emergency personnel arrived, they found the Nissan driver slumped on the passenger side floor unconscious.
She regained consciousness and was taken to the Northshore Regional Medical Center. Hoopes said that the pickup driver complained of pain in his knees and he was also taken to the hospital.
At press time, the names of the two drivers were not known, nor their medical conditions.
